Business Goal & Opportunity
FarmGo's core elements are the agricultural community and weather forecasting. Initially, our strategy focused on engaging Thai farmers by offering access to knowledgeable agronomists for answering their farming queries. After our official launch in late 2020, we extended our reach to India and introduced the IBM-powered weather forecast as a vital tool for our farmers. By the close of 2021, we'd brought in over five million users into our thriving community.
UX Challenge
Given our role as a community platform, security is essential, and we do need to collect a fair amount of personal information. However, we've learned that many users are understandably cautious about sharing their data. To address this concern, we've adjusted our approach. Instead of requesting extensive information upfront, we now ask for minimal data initially. As users continue to use the app, we encourage them to build their farm and personal profiles gradually, as they discover the app's core values.
Our UX team faces a challenge with the post creation flow. Many users omit pictures and proper tags when posting questions, causing delays in receiving solutions. To streamline this, we've broken the process into multiple steps, showing only essential information to avoid confusion and encourage users to add tags before submission.
Experiment & Usability Testing
I collaborated with UX researchers to create experiments and usability tests, ensuring our app's practicality and user-friendliness. A major advantage of our community is the ease of recruiting potential users. We directly share surveys and experiments within the engaged community, where users are eager to contribute to its improvement.
